AI WEIWEI: REFLECT

Portrait in Cement 2017

Created in the original Sculpture Workshop in Edinburgh in 2017 for an exhibition in Caol Ruadh Sculpture Park in Argyll, in the Scottish Highlands.This piece was modelled in clay and incorporated sunflowers, sunflower seeds and wire fencing, a reference to WeiWei’s time under house-arrest in China. The work is designed to be placed in running water- a stream or a healthy pond. The high relief wording ‘Reflect’ is self-explanatory.
