Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela had strong links with Glasgow, whose citizens famously supported the campaign to secure his release from imprisonment on Robben Island.

In 2015, Deirdre Nicholls was commissioned to create a bronze bust of Mandela for Glasgow City Council. Modelled at ten percent larger than life, the sculpture now occupies a quiet, contemplative position at the entrance to Glasgow City Chambers.
